What stands out
What this buys over the standard bench is the rating, and not much else. It is 500 lbs. against 300, it costs $30 more, and it weighs 1.5 lbs. more. The seat is the same 27" across and the footprint is close enough not to matter, so a lighter rider gains nothing by buying it.
What the reinforcement buys is not only the number. A frame with margin over the rider flexes less, which a rider feels as steadiness during the part of the transfer where their whole weight is on one edge of the seat. If the rider is anywhere near 300 lbs., this is the bench, and $30 is not the expensive part of getting that wrong.
