Two legs stand inside the tub and two outside, so a rider sits down on the dry half and slides across rather than stepping over the wall. The back comes off at the push of a button and the bench converts for either side.

What stands out
This is the bench to buy unless you have a hand held shower. The deluxe costs $60 more and what that money buys is a soap dish, a hand held shower holder and a seat 4.5" wider. If the shower is a fixed head on the wall, you are paying for a holder with nothing to hang in it.
What it does give up is width. The seat is 27" against the deluxe's 31.5", which matters most to a wider rider and not much to anyone else, and the footprint outside the tub is smaller, which helps in a tight bathroom. At 9.5 lbs. one person can lift it out of the tub when somebody else wants a bath.
