The Hieline Take
Pick this over the standard Multifold when 30" is too tight. Wide power chairs, bariatric chairs and scooters with a wide wheelbase need the extra 6", and so does a helper who walks beside the chair. The trade is weight: the 8' is 76 lbs. against 52 lbs. for the 30" version, though it still splits into two pieces for carrying. The capacity is the same 800 lbs., so choose it for width, and measure the chair at its widest point before you order.

Which length do I need?
Measure the rise from the ground to the top of the step or landing. The ADA's 1:12 slope needs 1' of ramp for every 1" of rise. PVI rates its portable ramps for up to 2" of rise per 1' of ramp with an occupied chair or scooter and a helper, and up to 3" per 1' only when loading an empty chair or scooter. Your chair or scooter manual may set a lower limit, and that limit comes first.
What makes it bariatric?
It is the Multifold built 36" wide instead of 30". PVI rates both at 800 lbs. on two axles.
How do the two halves come apart?
Turn the locking pin and the two sides separate. No tools are needed.
Why do the photos show the standard Multifold?
PVI publishes photos of the 30" Multifold. The Bariatric Multifold is the same design built 36" wide.
