The Hieline Take
The Multifold is the PVI ramp to look at when a singlefold is too short and a single long ramp is too heavy to handle. It folds into a suitcase shape and splits into two pieces with a turn of a pin, so even the 8' is two pieces of about 26 lbs. The label at the top tells you whether the slope is safe before anyone rolls up. It is 30" wide, so check your chair or scooter width against it, and look at the Bariatric Multifold if you need 36".

Which length do I need?
Measure the rise from the ground to the top of the step or landing. The ADA's 1:12 slope needs 1' of ramp for every 1" of rise. PVI rates its portable ramps for up to 2" of rise per 1' of ramp with an occupied chair or scooter and a helper, and up to 3" per 1' only when loading an empty chair or scooter. Your chair or scooter manual may set a lower limit, and that limit comes first.
How do the two halves come apart?
Turn the locking pin and the two sides separate. No tools are needed, and they lock back together the same way.
Can I use it to load a van or SUV?
Yes, where the rise and the slope allow it. If the bumper sits behind the load floor, the PVI Multifold Reach has an extended top hook to clear it.
What does the safety guide do?
It is a label near the top of the ramp that shows whether the ramp is resting at a safe slope for the rise you have.
