The Hieline Take
The Reach is the Multifold rebuilt for the back of a vehicle. The longer top hook clears a bumper that would leave a standard ramp resting on the bumper edge, and the red straps hold it to a tailgate. Measure from the ground to the load floor, then read the length off PVI's slope chart for an empty scooter or a seated rider. The 8' is 52 lbs. and splits into two pieces for the trunk.

Which length do I need?
Measure the rise from the ground to the top of the step or landing. The ADA's 1:12 slope needs 1' of ramp for every 1" of rise. PVI rates its portable ramps for up to 2" of rise per 1' of ramp with an occupied chair or scooter and a helper, and up to 3" per 1' only when loading an empty chair or scooter. Your chair or scooter manual may set a lower limit, and that limit comes first.
How is it different from the Multifold?
The top hook is longer so it reaches past a rear bumper and rests on the load floor. It also comes with a safety strap and red straps for tailgate use.
Can a person ride up it into the vehicle?
Yes, where the slope allows it and there is head clearance. PVI says to confirm head clearance before loading an occupied chair or scooter, and to keep an assistant present.
