What stands out
This is the only tension pole Stander rates to 400 lbs. Every other pole in the range stops at 300. It installs between the floor and a ceiling 7' to 10' up with no drilling at all, the ladder grab bar rotates and locks every 45 degrees, and the top beam measures 22" by 10". 20 lbs., lifetime warranty, $229.
The thing to check is the ceiling. It needs one between 7' and 10', so measure the room first. Beyond that, the trade is unusually kind: it is $50 more than the standard Wonder Pole at $179, which carries 300 lbs. and only reaches 9'6", and the HD is 2 lbs. lighter at 20 lbs. into the bargain. Worth knowing that Stander sells four poles at 300 lbs. that cost more than this one does at 400.
If you need more than 300 lbs. from a floor to ceiling pole, this is the only one that gives it, and it is cheaper than four of the 300 lbs. poles above it. If 300 lbs. is enough and you want the lightest pole, the Wonder Pole Slim is 17 lbs. at $159. If the room is a bathroom with a tub, the Wonder Bathtub Pole clamps to the tub itself.
